The Ruby Fruit, located on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles, is a unique restaurant and wine bar that opened in February 2023. It's the first permanent lesbian bar in LA since 2017, serving the sapphically inclined community.
Designed it as a welcoming and safe space for lesbians, non-binary, gender-nonconforming, and trans individuals. The name is a tribute to Rita Mae Brown’s "The Rubyfruit Jungle."
This strip mall establishment offers a selection of natural wines and a variety of snacks from a womxn-run kitchen, open for both lunch and dinner. It has quickly gained recognition, being featured in prominent publications like The New York Times, Eater LA, and The Infatuation, for revitalizing the lesbian bar scene and offering a modern, inclusive space.
