Comptons
Comptons, also known as the Grande Dame of Old Compton Street, is a well-known LGBTQIA+ venue in London. It was built on the site of the Swiss Hotel, which was over 200 years old. Comptons has been a central part of the gay scene in London since 1986 and has a reputation for being a welcoming place for the LGBTQIA+ community. In the late 1980s and 1990s, Comptons became famous for the large number of gay men who would gather outside the venue to drink. Today, Comptons is considered one of the most celebrated LGBTQIA+ venues in London and continues to be a important part of the gay community in Soho. It is expected to remain a popular destination for many years to come.
