Stockholms Gaykör, which translates to Stockholm Gay Choir, has a rich history and notable presence in the Stockholm community. The choir was founded back in 1982 by Raino Kirkma and several friends who saw singing together as a fun alternative to parties and going to clubs. Initially starting with a modest group of 15 men, the choir has since grown and now boasts nearly 70 singers who tackle up to 7-part works for male voice choirs.
As for their performances, Stockholms Gaykör hosts various concerts throughout the year. For instance, they've held a Sparkling Christmas concert at the beautiful Barockhallen at the Swedish History Museum, offering a blend of lovely and atmospheric Christmas music to the audience. Besides festive concerts, they also partake in events like World AIDS Day, contributing to the community and broader societal conversations.
