The Centro Municipal de Referência em Cidadania LGBT is a pioneering initiative in Brazil, marking the first of its kind in the State to provide specific services and support for victims of discrimination and violence based on sexual orientation and/or gender identity. This center not only offers assistance but also a welcoming space for the LGBT community. It operates as a key coordinator in a network dedicated to protecting and ensuring the rights of LGBT individuals, aiming to reduce their vulnerabilities.

Staffed by a team of nine trained professionals, the center offers specialized treatment to the LGBT community, including legal, psychological, and social support services, along with guidance and assistance for families and victims. Additionally, it gathers precise information on rights violations, homophobia, and other crimes affecting this segment, aiding in the establishment of indicators for discriminatory acts in Recife, including homicides.
